The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and Defence and Security Accelerator has awarded £3.5m funding to minimise the impact of offshore windfarms on UK Air Defence.
Richard Sandford, Co-Chair of OWIC, said:
"This funding marks a positive step forwards in ensuring that military radar systems and offshore wind farms can co-exist successfully. The Offshore Wind Industry Council is working collaboratively with Government towards this joint aim, so we can accelerate deployment of offshore wind and reach Net Zero emisssions. This innovation competition which has also been announced will help ensure that we find the right and sustainable solutions for the future and we look forwards to the outcome of the next stage"
