Delivering the UK's offshore wind ambition

The Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) brings together industry and government to realise the UK’s offshore wind ambitions for 2030 and beyond.

About OWIC

The Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) was established in May 2013 to drive the development of the offshore wind sector in the UK, bringing together industry and government. The Government is committed to radically increasing offshore wind deployment by 2030 to support the Government’s 2030 clean power mission.

Co-Chaired by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, with the Energy Minister as Vice-Chair, Government appoints an industry Co-Chair and approves two industry Vice-Chairs (one from an offshore wind developer and one from a supplier). OWIC actively drives progress towards offshore wind delivery, supported by an industry-funded work programme and dedicated team within RenewableUK.
