Attracting a Diverse Workforce - A Data Led Approach

Within our recruitment processes EDF Renewables are measuring candidate diversity as a percentage of total applications received to our vacancies each month. We are drilling this down further into the process beyond diversity of total applicants to look at the diversity of shortlist, interview and offer stages.

Through this data led approach we’ve been able to implement changes including:

  • Gender neutral language in all job adverts

  • Commitment to flexible working in all job adverts

  • Gender diverse recruitment panels

  • Values based selection criteria in interview

Whilst it is still too soon to fully evaluate the effect of these changes, we are certainly seeing progress against our ambition to increase gender and ethnicity representation across our business in the first year of our 2030 diversity ambitions. 

This is allowing us to see where across the process we are losing (or failing to attract) diverse candidates and in turn enabling us to target action accordingly.
